NYSE Euronext is recruiting top-level interns for our Global Government Affairs team, based in Brussels. The internship will involve the monitoring, analysis and reporting of EU policy and legislation in the financial services area. Successful candidates will work in close collaboration with the government affairs team in Brussels and across the EU, and also the business units of the company.

 

Activities and tasks shall include:

- Detailed monitoring and analysis of financial services policy developments at European and national level, including European Parliamentary Questions, written declarations etc. and ensure proper reaction internally;
- Attending meetings and events in the European institutions and producing tailored reports;
- Preparation of top-quality briefing documents, internal advice memos, presentations, in collaboration with the members of the government affairs team;
- Updating external meetings, events calendars, as well as ongoing mapping of key players;
- Responding promptly and efficiently to internal requests for information and assistance.

The candidate should have:

- University degree in European law, public policy or finance professional qualification, preferably complemented with a post-graduate degree, from an academic institution recognised for its high standards;
- At least one years’ post qualification experience, including an official “blue book” stage in relevant sections of the European Commission, European Parliament or Council;
- Solid and demonstrable knowledge of the working of the EU institutions and preferably global financial markets;
- Excellent command of written and spoken English. Proficiency in at least one other EU language; more would be a clear advantage;
* Excellent social and communication skills, organisational skills and the ability to handle several requests in a proper, timely fashion;
* Demonstrable proficiency in office software suites such as Apple iWork or Microsoft Office.
